AirAsia set to resume flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport commencing in November with fares starting from Only 400 THB! Ready to Operate 36 Routes to 23 Destinations and 60 Flights a Day
BANGKOK, 21 October, 2021 - In light of the relaxed travel restriction policy and upcoming year-end travel season, AirAsia is continuing to gradually add routes and additional flight frequencies to cater for increased demand.
The airline is also resuming flights in November from its operational base at Suvarnabhumi Airport, commencing with six routes, to Chiang Mai, Nan, Phuket and Nakhon Si Thammarat starting 1 November, and to Chiang Rai and Krabi starting 19 November with highest health and safety measures. In the coming weeks, AirAsia Thailand will offer 36 routes to 23 destinations, operating 60 flights a day.
AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, remarked that state domestic tourism campaigns and a policy to reopen the nation from 1 November 2021 is a positive signal for the tourism industry, noting that over the past two months, AirAsia has witnessed continual growth in travel demand and the number of passengers booking each flight.
"These developments have prompted the airline to resume more routes and further increase flight frequencies in time for the peak travel season during the final quarter of the year."
We are confident that the period of recovery is dawning for the aviation and tourism industries as there is much pent up demand for air travel which has been building for a long time now. As such, AirAsia has decided to reinstate flights from its Suvarnabhumi Airport base and relaunch six popular routes this November. Just in time for the third phase of the ‘We Travel Together’ campaign and in line with the government’s plan to adjust quarantine terms and conditions for foreign travelers from countries matched the government’s health and safety criteria, that have been fully vaccinated” Mr. Santisuk said.
BIG members can fly direct from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Chiang Mai, Nan, Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Chiang Rai and Krabi from only 400 THB per trip. Bookings are available on the airasia Super App from 21-31 October 2021 for travel between 1 November 2021 until 26 March 2022 with unlimited free of charge self-rescheduling flexibility (subject to terms and conditions).
AirAsia assures it will continue to exercise the highest health and safety measures and will continue to screen passengers in accordance with regulations. Flight capacity will rise to a maximum 85 percent by December 2021 before rising to 100 percent in January, 2022. These precautions and more, will ensure consumer confidence while still allowing for economic activity to restart within the nation.
“Our airline is continuing to work diligently alongside relevant agencies to provide confidence to customers. All flights and contact surfaces are regularly disinfected and all of our staff have been vaccinated and regularly undergo COVID-19 testing. We support use of the Digital Health Pass to facilitate quick and contactless presentation of travel documents using the Mor Prom application” Mr. Santisuk said.
AirAsia has spent the period of downtime in travel over the past one-and-a-half years to further improve and revamp its flight procedures and processes. Despite mostly not flying for a good part of the past 20 months, all AirAsia’s aircraft are properly maintained according to procedures set by the manufacturer. AirAsia has set up an in-house maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) unit called Asia Digital Engineering that provides services not only to AirAsia but also other airlines. Likewise, all its pilots and cabin crew are regularly sent for mandatory refresher courses and ongoing retraining so that they are always on top of their job.
