Thai AirAsia launches third Fifth Freedom route from Chiang Mai-Taipei-Sapporo

Bangkok, 25 March 2025 - Thai AirAsia announces the launch of a new route connecting the northern city of Chiang Mai to Taipei and onto Sapporo, Japan, using its fifth freedom right to connect to three destinations.
The daily flight is set to take off from Chiang Mai on 15 June, with a stopover in Taipei to pick up and drop off passengers before heading to Sapporo, Japan.
For this new route, a special promotional price starts at 7,620 Baht per one-way flight. Bookings are available from March 25, 2025, to March 30, 2025, for travel between June 15, 2025, and October 25, 2025, exclusively through AirAsia MOVE orwww.airasia.com.
Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, stated that the response to the Taiwan stopover route has been very positive. This opens up new opportunities for the airline to expand its market to Taiwanese travelers who enjoy visiting Japan throughout the year. This new route to Sapporo also provides a more convenient travel option for people in Chiang Mai who wish to visit Sapporo. They can fly from Chiang Mai to Sapporo with a short stopover in Taipei.
